Services for Children with Special Needs

The purpose of IHSD’s Disabilities Services is to ensure that children with special needs and mental health needs receive all of the services to which they are entitled.IHSD recognizes that a child’s cognitive, social, and emotional development is enhanced through an environment with children with diverse abilities and learning styles. Children with special needs are integrated into all programs and individualized plans are developed by the Developmental Coordinators and Family Service Specialists in partnership with parents and families. An Individual Family Service Plan (IFSP) and an Individual Education Plan (IEP) are implemented for children with special needs to support their growth and development. IHSD program environments provide access to children and adults. IHSD works closely with collaborative partners including school districts, County Office of Education, community agencies and advocacy groups to identify and facilitate a continuity of services necessary to meet children’s developmental needs.
