Family Child Care

The IHSD Family Child Care currently contracts with 4 independent FCC contractors in SSF (2), San Mateo, and Redwood City . We offer comprehensive services for families with children 0-3 years old. The FCC providers offer full time child care in their own home for families who are working full time, going to school full time, or a combination of both. Each of our providers are highly experienced and ready to work with each child individually based on their need, helping to prepare them for their next journey into preschool.

Family Child Care offers services for children ages 6 weeks to 36 months. However, due to the time it takes for a child and family to transition into the program, we do not enroll children who are older than 2 1/2 years old. We are sensitive to the emotional needs of our children and do not feel it is healthy to transition a child into care for such a limited amount of time.

Our Family Child Care providers are independent contractors, which means that they are their own business and not employed directly by IHSD. Each provider has their own set of rules and regulations that must be followed by our families which is discussed during the meet and greet before a child is fully enrolled. Due to the fact that they are high quality providers, they not only follow Community Care Licensing regulations, but they also adhere to the Head Start Peformance Standards and participate in the CACFP program. All of our high quality, contracted providers not only dedicate themselves to the health and safety of our children, but also focus on their individual needs and education. They have all chosen to follow an evidence based curriculum, the Creative Curriculum, to support each child's learning and progress.

The Family Child Care team works closely with all the content areas (Health, Disabilities, Family Engagement, Mental Health, Facilities, & ERSEA) to provide our families with the best service possible. Our Family Child Care Coordinator works with each family to support them in reaching their goals and providing resources that may be needed.
